Multivariable phase-locked loop free strategy for power control of grid-connected voltage source converters

A multivariable control strategy in a dq reference frame for grid-connected voltage source converters (VSCs) without using phase-locked loop (PLL) is presented this paper. First, common VSC controls such as vector current (VCC) and grid modulated direct power (GVM-DPC) are analyzed their main drawbacks identified. Then, the presented, including implementation of saturation anti-windup mechanisms, limitation overcurrents. Next, different uncertainty channels that may lead to instability each approach analyzed, showing related use PLL, which avoided our proposal. The effectiveness three strategies compared by means MATLAB/Simulink simulations, proposal presents more robust behavior, specially weak grids.
